Love Is a Decision and Not a Feeling
One of the most powerful qualities that one has is one's feelings. Both feelings and emotions are often spoken of as one and the same. The soul of humankind consists of the mind, will, emotions, intellect, and the imagination. All of these are the part of an individual that are unique and mysterious. Unless one reveals her innermost feelings, they can be undetected. In other words, one can smile on the outside and cry on the inside simultaneously. Feelings can be tricky. One can be sad at one moment and happy the next. There are many things that affect the way one feels. For instance, soft music or an aromatic candle can soothe feelings of stress. One can go to bed feeling exhausted and discouraged yet wake up feeling as though one can conquer the whole world. Well, maybe not the whole world but at least the situations she must face. One can allow one's self to be motivated by one's feelings or emotions. If one is wise, one will not allow one's life to be centered around one's feelings. One will prioritize one's time and relationships. One will choose things that help achieve one's goals as important. Other things such as entertainment or hobbies will come last. One will also streamline one's activities as situations in one's life progress. Not having any goals or a sense of how to accomplish a goal is presumptuous. One should make plans for the future. One can make a decision to remain committed to anyone or anything, and not be moved by one's feelings. I believe love is a decision and not merely a feeling. I have made a decision to love my family and my friends no matter what I feel at any given moment. I might not always agree with them, but I love them anyway.
